Message from the Fire Chief

Fire Chief Robert Wight

"The Monroe Fire department has a long standing history of proudly serving the citizens of the City of Monroe. Established in 1837 the department has worked to protect and serve this community for almost 200 years. And today that same pride still exists in the men and women who work for the Monroe Fire Department.

As a member of the department for over 18 years, I have witnessed many changes in the community as well the department. One thing has stayed consistent at the MFD: the unwavering commitment and dedication to serving the citizens of this city. The MFD strives to keep pace with emerging best practices and programs to ensure that we provide the best possible service to our citizens, business owners and visitors. Operating as an “All hazards” response organization, staff works to create a community where residents can work, play and live in a safe environment.

Using our mission statement as a guide, and working with our core values, we will continue to provide the best quality service possible. I thank you for taking the time to visit our web site and encourage you to contact us with any questions."
