2023 Leaf Bag Distribution

UPDATE 10.26.2023:  The City has now distributed our entire supply of leaf bags for the season.  Residents can still purchase biodegradable leaf bags from area vendors.  Yard waste collection will end on your regular collection day the week of December 11th.

The City of Monroe will begin the annual distribution of leaf bags to residents beginning Tuesday, October 3rd.

Leaf bags will be distributed from the Department of Public Services (DPS) facility, 222 Jones Avenue (map below).  Cars will be guided into the yard to the second set of garage doors in the yard to collect bags.

Bags will be distributed until gone, on a first come, first served basis.  Additional distribution days may be added into November pending availability.  The maximum number of bags is 50 per property/parcel to city residents with a valid ID - driver's license, water bill, etc.

Days and hours of October distribution days are listed below.

72,000 bags are ordered each year, with approximately 1500 retained for year-round use in DPS maintenance activities.  Distribution of free leaf bags is an added value to the community's residents.  Residents are encouraged to use the bags for fall leaf collection only. At any time during yard waste collection season (April - November plus first full week of December), residents can always purchase their own bags for use, or use free yard waste stickers provided by DPS that can be placed on trash cans.  Stickers can be obtained at the DPS customer service counter in City Hall.
