The Water Office is located at on the 1st Floor of Monroe City Hall. We work to provide for proper water bill collection and are the primary information source for the customers. Information includes water quality and availability, administering water agreements, rate structure, service inquiries, billing records, infrastructure, as-builts, service records, customer accounts, system operations, etc.
Water Treatment Plant
The Water Treatment Plant went on line March 1, 1924 and has had expansions in 1948 and 1972. The plant has been recognized as the oldest, continuously running facility in the state of Michigan and has historically been viewed as a leader in its pro-active response to maintaining a quality treatment facility.

Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Wastewater Treatment Plant went on line in 1935 and has had numerous treatment additions and expansions. The facility is a publicly owned treatment works dedicated to providing the efficient transportation and treatment of wastewater from the metropolitan area.
Water treatment is a multi-stage process to recover clean water by removing or reducing organic matter, solids, nutrients, disease-causing organisms, and other pollutants from the wastewater, or sewage, discharged from residences, businesses, and industries in our community. The recovered, clean water is then discharged into Lake Erie.
