In 2023 - Monroe Public Safety Department is proud to announce the return of the position of Fire Marshal to the City of Monroe. 

The Fire Marshal is a City of Monroe Public Safety Department—Fire Division member. The Fire Marshal is a liaison to the community. It ensures businesses and citizens are protected through education and enforcement of the fire codes established by the National Fire Protection Association and the International Fire Code.

The Fire Marshal will investigate all fires in the City of Monroe and will also be a Monroe County Fire Investigation Team member. This county-wide team comprises members from different Fire Departments in Monroe County, the City of Monroe Police, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police, and the County Prosecutor’s office.

The Fire Marshal is responsible for conducting Fire and Safety inspections for the City of Monroe and investigating the cause and origin of fires in the City in partnership with the City of Monroe Police.

The Marshal will provide fire prevention and promote public education to the City of Monroe citizens by offering fire extinguisher training for businesses, giving fire station tours for organizations that cover what services the fire department offers, and giving fire prevention presentations at the local schools, to name a few examples.
