City Council Appointment

The Monroe City Council is now opening the application process for the anticipated vacancy of the Precinct 5 seat. This opportunity is significant for those who are eager to contribute to the governance and community development of Monroe.
Eligibility Requirements
Interested candidates must meet the qualifications as defined in Sections 32, 37 and 46 of the City of Monroe Charter. These sections outline specific criteria, including residency requirements and any other qualifications necessary to serve effectively as a council member.

Application Period
The application period will be open until December 16, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible to ensure adequate processing time.

Additionally, a paper application form is available at the City of Monroe Clerk’s Office at City Hall during
regular business hours (8:30AM-4:30PM) for those who prefer to apply in person.
Special Meeting Announcement
All candidates who meet the eligibility requirements will have their names included in the meeting packet for review at the January 6th regular City Council meeting. At the January 6th Regular Council meeting, a Special Meeting date will be selected by City Council to interview candidates and finalize the appointment selection.
Term Information
The individual selected for the Precinct 5 seat will officially begin their term on February 3, 2025, and serve the remainder of the term.
