Labor Day Holiday Observance
Posted on 08/27/2019
2019 Labor Day Weekend EventCity offices will be closed Monday, September 2, 2019, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. We will reopen Tuesday, September 3, at 8:00 AM to accommodate your city business needs.

Trash and recycling schedules will be delayed by ONE day. For a full list of holidays that delay refuse collection, please click here.

In addition, the The Monroe / Lenawee County AFL-CIO Central Labor Council will be hosting this year’s annual Labor Day Parade and Labor Day Celebration in Downtown Monroe on Saturday. August 31!

The parade will start at the Department of Public Services yard on Jones Avenue at 12:00 noon and will proceed north to First Street, then east to disband at the City Hall Parking Lot at Scott Street. The affected streets will be closed for approximately one hour for the parade, likely with Monroe Street traffic detoured.
The festival will be taking place from 1 to 10 P.M. on Saturday, August 31, and will require the closure of East Front Street between Monroe and Macomb, and Washington Street from First to Front, likely all day Saturday. There will be no posted detours for the festival.
